Steam Deck arrives and thinks of Acer’s Chromebook 514

For this episode of The Chrome Cast, we start our show by discussing the very recent reveal that we have a Steam Deck on the way to the office! I signed up for a comeback when the announcement first happened and got my invite email just before the show started. Of course, I immediately bought the device and now we are waiting for it to show up at the office to start experimenting with it. Because it’s based on Linux and because the Steam implementation on it is so similar to what we get on ChromeOS, the Steam Deck represents a very interesting bridge between gaming and Chromebooks that we just have to to explore.

We also spend some time talking about the main points of our upcoming Acer Chromebook 514 review. With the new MediaTek Kompanio 828 inside and some great hardware features, this low-cost Chromebook impresses in person where it can seem a bit boring. a technical form. As the saying goes, don’t judge a book by its cover.
