The Holberton School, a deferred-tuition university alternative for training software engineers, has announced the addition of new programs for people with previous technical training or experience. These 12-month offers, available to students from July, include Machine Learning, Linux Programming, Advanced Algorithms and Blockchain, Augmented and Virtual Reality, and Full-Stack Web Development.
“While many of our current students have no technological background, we know that there are people with prior industry knowledge who are still interested in a Holberton training,” said Libby Ediger, Executive Director by Holberton Tulsa. “With the addition of these new programs, we are better equipped to serve those who wish to continue their education or work experience in high-tech industries. “
The new programs are designed to improve the skills of those who are already in the labor market or who have already undergone technical training. To be considered for admission to these offers, applicants will need to attend two interviews and meet the requirements of one of the following options:
Option 1: Submit transcripts from an accredited post-secondary institution attesting to completion of previous computer science courses. In the past five years, individuals must have at least 30 semester credits or 45 term credits in computer science courses with a grade of C or higher.
Option 2: Possess a bachelor’s or associate degree (AA, ASAAS, AOS acceptable) in IT or a related field from an accredited post-secondary institution.
Option 3: Demonstrate at least two years of relevant work experience through review of resume and employer references. Individuals must provide official records of completion of current and active relevant IT certifications, and experience will be verified.
Applicants who do not meet the requirements of options 1 to 3 but have prior experience may be eligible to complete a technical challenge for admission to these programs. Graduates of a Holberton School program are also deemed to have the minimum skills necessary to be successful in one of these programs.
Upon completion of 12-month full-time programs, students will graduate in their program. While at Holberton Tulsa, they will have access to an innovative and hands-on curriculum developed by Silicon Valley, as well as Holberton’s Career Services Department, which helps graduates secure employment in the fields for which they are trained. .
“As our program grows, we continue to prioritize a high quality learning experience, as well as a well-balanced skill set, to ensure our students leave Holberton ready to thrive. , to be successful and to contribute to their local communities, ”said Ediger.
